BABYLOSS TALK | Episode 6: Carissa's Story Of Infant Loss Of One Of Her Twin Sons Due To Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH)
Blogging has introduced me to some of the most amazing women. I'm not sure how or when Carissa and I became internet friends, but over the years I have read her blog and gotten to know her through her posts and chatting on Facebook. When a mutual blog friend mentioned that one of her twin sons was experiencing complications after birth and asked us to pray for her, I never imagined that soon Carissa would become apart of the my sisterhood of Babyloss Moms.
On today's episode of BABYLOSS TALK, Carissa details her experience of being a NICU mom, her sons passing, how she balances her grief while still being a parent to her living children and more.
BABYLOSS TALK is a project that I take very seriously. I am aware that I'm asking women to open up to me and my audience about one of the most personal, intimate and often traumatic moments of their lives. I always pray before I start, and I felt pretty comfortable since I was pretty familiar with Carissa's story. However, a few minutes into the interview I became very distracted and overwhelmed with emotion. I tried to ignore it for as long as I could but eventually it all came spilling out.
There was a definitely a Higher Power in the room with me that caused this feeling that I couldn't shake and required me to tell Carissa a few things that were not on my heart before getting on the call with her. Needless to say, I was caught off guard and thrown off my game! Thankfully, Carissa is a women of Faith who understood what was happening and went with the flow.
You may also notice during the video that the color of my face changes back and forth between my normal color and a greenish filter. That was also distracting me, but I now know that was a result of this powerful energy that was in the room with me.
If you've seen or listened to all of the other episodes of the show, I do not use them as Intuitive Sessions, but on this day, God had something different planned. As I re-watched the video, I could see how distracted I am and always looking off to the side as though I'm listening and just repeating everything I'm hearing.
A lot of things weren't clear at the time we were recording, but I abruptly ended the recording so that I could talk to Carissa off air, and I was able to be more clear and specific about the message I was receiving.
While this isn't the most structured and "professional" episode, it's certainly the most powerful so far.
