A Quick And Simple 4 Step Natural Skincare Routine (Pregnancy Friendly)

I was recently asked if I've had to update my skincare routine now that I'm pregnant. The short answer is no. I make sure to add extra moisture to my belly specifically, but overall, my routine has been simple and natural over the past few years. Besides a few quirky things going on with my skin due to the hormonal changes, I've been experiencing the best skin of my life for the past 3 years or so by keeping things basic and chemical free.

I was certainly a product junkie for a while. After graduating with certifications in Skincare Specialty and Multi-Media Makeup Artistry, I wanted to try everything, and I did. Like most things in life, I came to find that less was more. There are only 4 steps that you really need on a day to day basis. Today I'd like to share what those steps are and what product I personally use for each one.

STEP 1: CLEANSE // JOLIE BLOOM: Royal Oats Shower Bar

I've had oily/acne prone skin for as far back as I can remember. In makeup school the girls would comment on how dewy my skin looked, I'd explain that it was straight up oil! Using this particular bar on my face has impacted me tremendously because it includes ingredients like honey which naturally draw moisture into the skin.

You may be asking, "Why would you want more moisture on your face, when your skin is greasy?"

Our skin tends to become oily and acne prone because your skin is over producing natural oils, sebum, etc. If you naturally pull in the moisture, it helps everything to level out so that your skin doesn't feel the need to overcompensate. In this case it's equally important to be conscious of what you put in your body. Products won't do much if you eat like crap. I make sure to drink lots of water and avoid candy bars as much as possible...those Milky Way Midnights get me every once in a while though.

STEP 2: EXFOLIATE //  JOLIE BLOOM: Wake Up - Coffee & Cane Sugar Scrub

This is the most often skipped step, yet one of the most important. Exfoliation is non-negotiable if you want soft, smooth and bright skin.

Every single day, your skin is being exposed to the elements. In addition to that, you're constantly shedding skin and if you don't exfoliate, it just sits there along with the natural oils and what ever else it's picking up throughout the day. This contributes to breakouts, dull looking skin and roughness.

You need to scrub that extra layer off a few times a week! If you don't wear makeup, I would suggest once or twice a week. When I was working outside my home and wore makeup five days per week, I'd exfoliate up to 3 times per week to ensure that my pores never clogged.

When you exfoliate you will immediately feel a difference in the texture of your skin.

STEP 3: TONE // Witch Hazel

This step is usually skipped as well but BEYOND important. Toning allows you to balance the ph of your skin so that it doesn't freak out on you. I personally love to use witch hazel for this step because it's natural and doesn't include alcohol which is found in most commercial toners. The strange thing about that is that alcohol actually dries out your skin. You may think you want to do that if you have oily/acne prone skin like mine, but this will do more harm than good. Witch hazel is a great natural alternative.

STEP 4: MOISTURE // SUMMER TIME SHINE: Essential Oil Lotion

The benefit of using Jolie Bloom products is that they all jam pack a lot of moisture in the skin, so once I get to this step, I only need a small drop of lotion to complete my routine. This particular routine has now made my skin dewy and supple, instead of greasy.

However, you will find with most commercial products that the washing of your face and toning actually dry out your skin. You then have to go in with a heavy moisturizing so that your skin doesn't look ashy and feel extremely tight. Do you feel like that with the products you use now?

Keeping your face moisturized is key whether your skin is "normal", sensitive, dry or oily. If your skin is oily, you may actually find that moisturizing your face with an oil may work best. I know that sounds absolutely crazy, but the only thing that can break oil, is oil!

So there you have it! I've shared my personal routine to the best skin I've ever had and well as the four steps that you must have in a skin routine of your own. Simple enough right? Jolie Bloom has certainly impacted mine and my customers skin in a major way due to its highly concentrated formulas. However, even if you're not you're willing to give these specific products a try, I encourage you to experiment and find what works for you.

I just want to make sure that you follow these specific steps during your routine - in this order - with products that are contributing to the health of your skin.
