Grey and I have spent the last couple of days fighting the flu with all our might. I've had random fevers, and we're both coughing like crazy. He's gotten some medication from his pediatrician while I'm constantly forgetting about myself - I can hardly remember to take my meds.

I should be the gym right now, but since babies don't know how to blow their own noses, he's having a tough time and having a few tantrums. While on the topic of the gym, I've lost a total of 27 pounds now. Though I've been working very hard, it's sometimes hard to believe how far I've come - especially without doing the diets that I typically rely on. I've been eating clean and working out 3 times a week. My workouts have been inconsistent lately between dealing with my fevers and caring for my sick baby, but I somehow managed to hit my goal of a 2 pound weight loss this week because I've been eating properly...well, for the most part.

Lately I've been thinking a great deal about the health of my family. Food is something we need to live, but more and more I'm learning how much it should be a nourishment to the body. With so much processed food, sugars and GMO items on the shelves, I've been learning how to navigate it all. I don't want to shelter Grey from everything or prevent him from occasional indulgences, but I want him to treat his body like a temple and not a garbage disposal - the way God intended it to be. My hope for him is that he will be active and enjoy being outside, which is part of the reason why I love how amazing the weather is here all year round.

Being a healthy and active family is one of the goals we've set for our family. I hope to share some recipes and baby friendly food here as I continue to explore.
