Bump 2.0 // Week 14 Pregnancy Update [ the good & the not so awesome ]

Yesterday was my highly anticipated sonogram with a specialist to find out if my cervix was measuring at the correct rate. If it wasn't, that would mean that I have what is called an incompetent cervix and would have to have the cervical cerclage procedure.
the good
  • First up was the typical sono where I got to stare at my baby for a good ten minutes while the ultrasound tech took measurements. I watched my little one move all over the place and even face the camera sometimes. I didn't want it to end, I wanted to watch the monitor all day.
  • Though I won't begin my 15th week unil tomorrow, the tech was pretty sure about the gender of the baby...it was very clear! Baby 2.0's gender is...........well, I've decided to wait until my 20 week appointment just to make sure, lol. But in the meantime, I'd love to read your guess.
  • I then had my cervix measured and it seems all is well - no procedure for me (yay)
the not so awesome
Because of my history with spontaneous preterm labor, the doctor suggested a preventative medication called 17-P. Starting on week 16 through week 37 (full term), I'd have to take the shot on a weekly basis to lesson my chances of going into labor too early again. From what I've read so far, it has helped some women get to full term while some still had premature babies, just not as early as their previous pregnancy. I'm currently researching like crazy before meeting with my primary obgyn next week, while discussing it with my husband of course.

 . . .

So that's the latest with 2.0 !!! He or She seems to be very healthy, I just have to keep them baking in there as close to 40 weeks as possible.

Sometimes I get a little sad wondering if there's still something I could have done to save Jolie...but I'm trying my best to let it go. Unfortunately I can't change the past and one day I'll truly accept that. However, I am truly thankful that I was able to conceive again less than a year within her death. Remembering where I was this time last year, I never thought I'd be pregnant again and awaiting the birth of another little one.

God is good.
